Kevin Magnuson’s main practice areas include business litigation, white collar criminal defense, appellate law and campaign finance & election Law.

He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in antitrust litigation, including complex class actions and opt-out claims, and in DOJ/FTC investigations. He also counsels businesses on a variety of antitrust and competition issues, including issues involving European competition law. Kevin’s commercial litigation practice also concentrates on the law of fraudulent transfers and securities fraud. He has assisted Doug Kelley, the court-appointed Receiver and Trustee in the Thomas J. Petters related receivership and bankruptcies, in managing and liquidating assets and in numerous “clawback” actions.

In addition to business litigation and counseling, Kevin represents clients in white collar criminal defense and in government investigations. He has extensive experience in the federal appellate courts, including at the United States Supreme Court.

Kevin is heavily involved in pro bono matters. He volunteered thousands of hours to bring Jama v. INS and four related cases to a successful outcome. This complex litigation involved extensive briefing and oral argument at every level of the federal courts, including at the U.S. Supreme Court, coordinating amicus briefing, working with the media, and managing national litigation strategy. He also has served as President and on the boards of a number of community and political non-profit organizations.
